Hellish Traffic Jams in Zagreb Due to Slavonska Avenue Interchange Works!

Zagreb is in chaos! Works on one of the busiest road interchanges, the Slavonska Avenue loop, have caused kilometer-long traffic jams and a total traffic collapse. The works started in early June and will last for 12 months, until June 23 next year. Imagine this – a 6.2 million euro reconstruction including asphalt replacement, waterproofing, reinforced concrete structure repairs, and much more. But while the authorities boast about increased safety and extended road lifespan, citizens are suffocating in traffic jams and losing hours on the road. Slavonska Avenue westbound has turned into a real nightmare, and drivers are forced to use detours through Heinzelova, Vukovarska, Dubrovnik, and other streets. Is it worth it? Has anyone thought about how thousands of people will suffer daily because of these works? As the works drag on, the traffic chaos only grows. If you thought the morning or afternoon rush hour was hell, now it’s all day! And all because of one interchange. Is it possible that this is happening in the capital? Is traffic planning in Zagreb stuck in the last century? Drop a comment if you’re stuck in these jams too and share your experience – maybe together we’ll find a solution or at least laugh at our misery!
