Zaječar just proved once again that SNS is not to be underestimated! In the elections held on June 8, Aleksandar Vučić’s list “Ne damo Srbiju” (We Won’t Give Up Serbia) snagged a whopping 47.13% of valid votes, securing 27 out of 50 seats in the city assembly. That’s a solid 54% majority, enough for SNS to rule solo in this town. But hold on, it’s not all black and white! The opposition list “Promena u koju verujemo” (Change We Believe In), led by Uglješa Đuričković and Dragana Rašić, grabbed a respectable 34.23% of votes, translating to 19 seats — nearly 38% of the assembly. Not too shabby for the underdogs! The third place went to “Ujedinjeni spas Zaječara” (United Salvation of Zaječar) with 7.58% and 4 seats, while five other lists failed to cross the threshold. Voter turnout was a decent 63.6%, showing locals still care about their politics. But let’s be real — SNS once again flexed its muscle, keeping a tight grip on Zaječar, while the opposition can only dream of bigger change. Will this majority bring stability or stagnation? Time will tell. One thing’s for sure — politics in Zaječar remains a full-on drama. And hey, if you’ve got thoughts on these results, why not drop a comment? Is this the end of the opposition or the start of a new fight? Let the debate rage on!
