Zaječar GIK Rejects All 71 Opposition Complaints – Electoral Justice or a Farce?
Imagine this: 71 complaints from the opposition about local elections in Zaječar, and every single one was rejected! Yes, you read that right – seventy-one! The president of the City Election Commission (GIK), Nenad Dinulović, announced that the commission found no irregularities that would justify annulling the voting at any polling station.
What’s going on with the elections?
The opposition filed a mountain of complaints, hoping at least some would be valid. But GIK, after a thorough review and re-examination of the election materials, decided all complaints were unfounded. Dinulović emphasized that there were no cases of people voting who were not registered in the voter list, which is the only valid reason for annulling voting, as happened in Kosjerić.
Is this the end of justice?
The opposition has the right to appeal, but the final decision will be made by the higher court in Zaječar. Still, the question remains: how fair and transparent is the election process if all complaints are dismissed? Is GIK truly impartial, or just another cog in the system that suppresses the opposition?
Voter list and jurisdiction
Dinulović clearly stated that GIK does not maintain or update the voter list, and complaints can only concern irregularities observed at the polling station during voting. Anything unrelated to the actual voting is outside their jurisdiction.
What do you think?
Do you believe the elections in Zaječar were free of any irregularities? Or is this just another proof that the opposition stands no chance in a rigged system? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, and let’s see who’s for fair elections and who’s for a farce!
Either way, 71 rejected complaint is a number that can’t be ignored. Is it a sign that electoral justice is dead or just sleeping?
Zaječar, elections, complaints, opposition, GIK – a topic that will stir the pot for a long time!
