Despite being 37 years old, Popović played 27 matches in the Serbian SuperLiga last season, keeping a clean sheet in seven of them. The club describes him as the pillar of their defense, a leader whose experience brings stability to the team.
Before joining Železničar, Popović guarded the nets for Čukarički, Voždovac, Beograd, Vojvodina, Napredak, Bodo Glimt, and Red Star Belgrade. He played the most matches for Voždovac, conceding goals in 55 games.
